Sometimes SMS Is the Smartest Channel

Claimed Badges: Sponsor – LINK Mobility, Embedding numbnut

Email is still a relevant channel for communication, but for EcoCraft we mostly use it for teachers, parents and the NGO workers.
And kids are mostly on their phone nowadays anyways, right? Or have you ever seen Minecraft kids writing emails? We don’t think so!

That’s why we send the log-in data for the kids via the LINK mobility SMS API. And you know what? This can also be added to Customer Insights Journey in the most low-code-no-code way. No need to create any code or any complicated setups.

Let us show you how it works.

In Customer Insights we can set up SMS providers and add one or multiple sender numbers. It took us some time to understand that the number is of type “alphanumerical” and not “shortnumber”. But after changing to the right type, the SMS were send out.

Our goal is to send a link with the Minecraft server to the children participating in the EcoCraft mission. So in CI-J we can then design the SMS with the gamer tag and link.

Design SMS text

Aaaand, it’s more fun when it’s a two-way conversation, right? So we added keywords to our process. When the child uses it’s phone (btw, that’s an external physical device!) and answers with the keyword.

A phone is an external physical device (oh, and yes, we still have some snacks for you here)

The journey can then react on the message back from the SMS and send the child different paths depending on the answer in the SMS.

And that’s it! A perfect combination of LINK mobility and Customer Insights Journeys with real interactions.
