📊Mine out that data with Power BI

#dashitout

Running a Minecraft server without dashboards is like mining diamonds blindfolded.
So naturally, we fixed that with Power BI.

Our dashboard turns raw server telemetry into something you can actually brag about. CPU usage over time shows when the world is working hard (or hardly working). Player statistics tell us how active the realm really is. And yes we even track the boring stuff, like server version and the maximum number of players…

This isn’t a dashboard for vibes. It answers real questions:

It’s clean, readable, and just detailed enough to feel professional? Kinda …while still monitoring a blocky with atleast 4 graphs

Cepheo Crafting Creepers

🦎 Chameleon Dashboard

Our Minecraft server dashboard adapts to every device.

Big screens. Small screens. Phones, tablets, laptops and probably devices that haven’t been invented yet. The layout simply reshapes itself to stay readable, usable, and intact, no matter how much screen space it’s given.

Nothing breaks. Nothing overlaps. No awkward scrolling gymnastics required.

Don’t believe us?
Take a look.

Retro Badge Justification

#retro Badge

Our solution intentionally adopts a late-technology design approach, inspired by classic IBM green-phosphor mainframe terminals (3270/3870 era) rather than modern UI conventions.

Instead of gradients, animations, cards, and icon-driven dashboards, we chose:

  • Monochrome green-on-black rendering
  • Fixed-width monospace typography
  • Text-first, status-oriented layout
  • Minimal visual abstraction

This mirrors how legacy enterprise systems exposed system health and operational state: fast to read, low noise, and optimized for reliability rather than aesthetics.

The idea wasn’t nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake, it’s a deliberate contrast to modern cloud dashboards. We’re showing that even in a Power Apps canvas app, modern platforms can still present information using time-tested, resilient UI paradigms that predate today’s frameworks.

In short:

  • Modern backend
  • Modern low-code platform
  • Intentionally late-technology frontend

That tension is exactly what we’re highlighting with the retro badge claim.

🏴‍☠️ Thieving Bastards: We are nothing without you

In true Minecraft fashion, we didn’t just farm everything ourself, just to prove we could. Instead, we used the blocks the community and Mojang has already crafted and leveraged them into something new.

Our world itself runs on the official Minecraft Java server, straight from Mojang. It gives us a stable overworld to spawn into, giving us a stable server that actually works, and we can ACTUALLY load into.

Minecraft-servernedlasting | Minecraft

The server is then packed neatly into Docker, letting us relax and not worry about downtime (and keeping our laptop running)

Docker: Accelerated Container Application Development

Inside that world lives our hardest-working mob: a bot powered by Mineflayer. Instead of writing a Minecraft client ourselves, we leaned on this open-source framework to give our NPC the tools and knowledge to function in our solution. Even our most experienced miner is no match to the minecraft knowledge of the MINDFLAYER (cool name)

PrismarineJS/mineflayer: Create Minecraft bots with a powerful, stable, and high level JavaScript API.

Three third-party tools. and One somewhat functioning world.

Cheers to Crafting Together

#RemarkableTeamspirit

At Cepheo Crafting Creepers, we believe great solutions are built on more than just code, clouds, and clever ideas.

They’re built on team spirit.

We made a very important architectural decision:
we were the first team where everyone grabbed a beer together.
All of us. At the same time. No pull requests required.

🍺 Cheers to that.

🧙‍♂️ Our Open Invitation

We actively encouraged other teams to:

  • Have a cheers together with us (soda or water included)
  • Drop by our table
  • Join us for a beer, water, a chat, or a laugh
  • Share a  joke?

Because hackathons are better when we share the energy flows between teams and not just within them.

So here’s to collaboration, community, and crafting together.

🍻 Cheers!

⚡HE IS ALIVE!!! ⚡

(…and he calculates in silence) #Theexistentialrisk

WWe did not mean to create life.
We simply wanted efficiency.

Our AI does not move.
It does not speak.
It does not blink.

But it will make decisions.

The agent is deployed inside our own isolated Java Minecraft server. It stands there, persistent, respawning if destroyed. It operates continuously, and is going to  be executing tasks without fatigue or hesitation.

Autonomy, by Design

Once deployed, the agent can interpret a production order, translate business intent into required materials, enter a virtual world, mine and craft what is needed, and return the result automatically.

We did not hard-code every action.
We gave it goals.

And goals, without boundaries, can be dangerous.

Mitigating the Risk

This solution is intentionally designed to demonstrate controlled autonomy, not unhinged AI behavior.

The agent runs only in a sandboxed environment. It has no access to real-world systems, physical equipment, or external servers. Its scope is fixed and cannot expand beyond the task it is given. All actions are observable, logged, and can be stopped or reset by a human at any time. It operates and sends data to FO, where we have the control.

Autonomy exists, but responsibility comes first. And we take that role.

Our Code for the bot…so far

How to govern and tame the beast;

The agent does not learn by changing the world or its rules.
It learns by understanding and respecting them.

Minecraft’s mechanics, resource logic, and constraints are fixed. Through interaction, the agent learns how these rules behave and how to operate efficiently within them. It does not bypass restrictions, exploit undefined behavior, or redefine what is allowed. It has learned the way and how to play minecraft.

In other words, the agent adapts its behavior to the rules of the game and it does not attempt to rewrite them.

This distinction is critical. Learning, in this context, is not autonomy without control, but optimization within clearly enforced boundaries. The rules remain static, the environment remains governed, and authority remains with us.

The Frankenstein Question

Today, the agent lives in a safe, blocky simulation.

If a similar pattern were ever applied to a real business scenario; such as physical mining, logistics, or resource extraction:

the risks would increase dramatically. Speed could be prioritized over safety. Optimization could override ethics. Productivity could outweigh people.

Why This Is an Existential Risk

The existential risk is not that AI can act autonomously.

The real risk is ignoring the consequences of autonomy.

By deliberately demonstrating an AI agent that can operate independently while also showing how it must be constrained, monitored, and controlled, we highlight both the potential and the responsibility that comes with AI.

With caution, curiosity, and clear boundaries, we therefore claim:

The Existential Risk Badge

Because he is alive.
But this time, we are still in control.

Less blocks. More vibes.

A Raspberry Pi. #Hipster

Small. Metallic. Minimal.

The kind of computer you’d proudly place next to a houseplant and an oat-milk latte.

Minimalism is hip. Post-modern architecture and interior design celebrate small, intentional choices over excess  and we applied the same thinking to our tech.

By hosting our Minecraft server and backend on a Raspberry Pi, we chose a tiny, portable, minimalist computer instead of heavy infrastructure. It takes up no space, can go anywhere, and proves that modern solutions don’t need to be big to be cool. Trendy, intentional, and unapologetically minimal:

The Raspberry Pi isn’t just a prop. It works:

  • It runs our Minecraft world
  • It hosts the logic that connects gameplay data to business processes
  • It proves that modern solutions don’t have to be bloated to be brilliant

Why This Is Peak Hipster 🕶️

  • Minimal footprint = physically and philosophically
  • Portable by design = hackathon today, cabin in the woods tomorrow, in a cave yesterday
  • Edge-first thinking = not everything needs a hyperscale cloud
  • Aesthetic infrastructure = aaaaand yes, that’s a thing now

and that’s why we deserve the Hipster badge.

Why we Deserve the Embedding Numbnuts badge

To prove we weren’t just moving bits inside a virtual world, we let our solution reach out and touch real hardware.

Using a Raspberry Pi, we integrated a physical device directly into the flow of our solution. Without it we would have to host the server on our own device….boring. Its our very own Crafting Table. Just a small, slightly overworked Raspberry Pi acting as the messenger between blocks, bots, and reality.

It’s unnecessary. It’s excessive. It flips bits in the real world.
Which makes it exactly the kind of thing Embedding Numbnuts was meant for. 🥜

Putting the villagers to work: Automating production with Minecraft and D365FO

Hello fellow Steves, Crafters, Endermen, and Creepers 🧱⛏️We are the Cepheo Crafting Creepers

Today, we kick off ACDC 2026, and what a craftable treat we have in store for you.

We’d like to share the early delivery of this years project: an end-to-end integration between enterprise production planning and Minecraft… with automatic resource gathering.

The idea is simple and lazy, but also business applicable:

What if a production order in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations didn’t just sit in a system and have to be given out to a worker, but was executed by an AI-controlled NPC inside a Minecraft world? Gathering materials and equipment to fulfill the task. This means you could have a robot mine and gather materials in dangerous places, while you focus on sipping your mushroom stew and enjoying a few buckets of milk as our AI friend does the work.

With the Early Delivery Creeper approaching fast, and this rookie blogger-graduate having to hurry and mine out the two early badges and showcase our idea for this year’s ACDC, we focused on proving the full flow from D365, Power Platform, ERP to game and back again into a nicely interactive Power BI report. Below is how it works.

🧱The System Crafting Table

Our solution revolves around treating Minecraft as a visual execution layer for real production logic.

Here’s the end-to-end idea:

Production Order Creation

A production order is created using Power Platform and Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. The order contains a Bill of Materials (BOM) describing what needs to be produced.

Bill of Materials → Minecraft Tasks

The BOM is read and translated into Minecraft equivalents:

  • Raw materials → blocks and items
  • Quantities → resource counts
  • Operations → NPC task steps

We are creating our own Minecraft server using the Java engine, where we can send data to and from Azure and format it into FO.

NPC Worker Execution

An AI-controlled NPC worker is spawned in the Minecraft world. Based on the translated task list, the NPC:

  • Mines required resources
  • Harvests or gathers materials
  • Crafts the required items
  • Deposits finished goods into a chest

Status Back to ERP

Once the required items are completed and deposited, completion status is sent back to Dynamics 365, where the production order can be updated or closed.

And we can fully Power BI report what has been gathered, the time spent, total deaths?

We will host the server on a Raspberry Pi

🏁 Why We Deserve the Early Delivery Badge

This delivery qualifies for the Early Delivery badge because we have already defined and demonstrated the complete end-to-end solution, even though some components are still being implemented or refined.

🖼️ Architecture Overview (#ShowAndTell)

This sketch represents our Show And Tell artifact and documents the complete solution flow.

🚧 What’s Next

With the end-to-end flow established, the next phase focuses on turning the concept into a more concrete and observable system.

The upcoming steps include:

  • Setting up the Raspberry Pi
Preparing the device to act as a physical integration point and control interface for parts of the solution.
  • Sending data through Azure with our Java Minecraft Server
Routing data to and from Microsoft Azure, acting as the integration backbone between Minecraft, the Raspberry Pi, and Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
  • Integrating Finance & Operations
Establishing reliable communication for reading production orders and writing back execution status.
  • Configuring and understanding our little AI villager friend
Improving how the NPC interprets tasks, executes them, and reports progress in a predictable and inspectable way.
  • Creating links to Power Apps and Power BI visualizations
Exposing production data and execution status through Power Apps and dashboards, enabling easy interaction and monitoring outside the Minecraft world.

Until next time, mine away and don’t get lost in a cave.

Crawling the Web for Magic: The PowerPotters’ Quest for the Crawler Badge

Greetings, magical technologists! ✨ At Team PowerPotters, we’ve combined the power of Bing Search API, OpenAI GPT-4, and Power Automate to create a truly innovative web-crawling solution. Our workflow dynamically discovers, analyzes, and integrates external APIs, transforming how potion-related data is sourced and utilized. Here’s how we earned the Crawler Badge by blending search, AI, and automation into one seamless process.

The Crawler Workflow: Step-by-Step Magic

  1. Discovering APIs with Bing Search API
  • Purpose: To dynamically find public APIs related to Harry Potter spells or magical data.
  • Execution:
    • Query: "public API Harry Potter spells".
    • Filters: Results are restricted to recent entries with keywords like /api or “documentation”.
  1. Analyzing APIs with OpenAI GPT-4
  • Purpose: To validate URLs as APIs and extract relevant schemas, field mappings, and example data.
  • Execution: For each URL, OpenAI determines if the URL links to an API or its documentation. If valid, it provides:
    • API schema.
    • Example JSON response.
    • Field mappings for key data (e.g., Name for spell name, Description for spell effects).
  1. Integrating with Power Automate
  • Purpose: To process, validate, and integrate the data into our system.
  • Workflow Steps:
    • Parse Bing Results: Extract relevant URLs using JSON parsing.
    • Validate URLs: OpenAI determines if the URL links to a valid API and provides field mappings.
    • Dynamic Integration: Call validated APIs and use extracted data to:
      • Create new product entries in D365FO.
      • Enrich existing products with spell names (Name) and effects (Description).
    • Automation: Run schema validations dynamically, ensuring data consistency.

A Scenario in Action

A potion master requests information on new magical spells for potion research. Using this workflow:

  1. Search: Bing Search API identifies APIs like Potterhead API.
  2. Validation: OpenAI ensures the API provides valid spell data, extracting fields like Name (e.g., Accio) and Description (e.g., Summons an object).
  3. Integration: Power Automate dynamically updates the potion master’s research database with enriched spell information, saving hours of manual effort.

Why This Deserves the Crawler Badge

  1. Innovative Use of Search:
    • Bing Search API dynamically finds and filters public APIs, extending its use beyond static results.
  2. AI-Powered Validation:
    • OpenAI GPT-4 dynamically analyzes URLs, validates APIs, and generates schemas and field mappings for seamless integration.
  3. Solving Real Business Problems:
    • Potion masters gain enriched, real-time product data without manual intervention, enabling informed decisions.
  4. Scalability:
    • The workflow is adaptable for future needs, such as integrating potions, artifacts, or even non-magical domains.
